Benti Nenka is a distinctive coffee from the Guji region of southern Ethiopia, an area celebrated for producing vibrant, aromatic and complex coffees. This lot undergoes a 72-hour anaerobic fermentation with pineapple, a co-fermentation process that brings an additional layer of tropical fruit character to the coffee.
The coffee cherries are fermented in a controlled, oxygen-limited environment alongside pineapple before being carefully dried as a natural process coffee. This combination of fermentation and fruit co-fermentation creates an expressive and highly aromatic cup.
Expect juicy acidity, pronounced tropical fruit sweetness and a rich, vibrant body, with flavours that can evoke pineapple, ripe tropical fruits, berries and delicate floral notes. The extended fermentation adds depth and complexity while enhancing the coffee’s naturally fruit-forward character.
This is a modern and experimental expression of Ethiopian coffee, combining the elegant qualities of Guji with an adventurous pineapple co-fermentation to create a memorable and intensely fruity cup.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between "Washed" and "Unwashed" coffee?

These terms refer to the "process"—how the coffee cherry is removed from the bean. Washed coffees are cleaned with water, resulting in a bright, clean, and "tea-like" cup that highlights the bean's origin. Unwashed (or Natural) coffees are dried with the fruit still on the bean, leading to a "funky," full-bodied cup with intense notes of ripe fruit and sweetness.

"Fruity" vs. "Not So Fruity"—how do I choose?

We categorize our coffees to make your choice easier. If you enjoy bright, acidic, and complex notes (like berries or citrus), go for "Fruity." If you prefer a more classic, chocolatey, and nutty profile with lower acidity, "Not So Fruity" is for you.
